The Charleston metro area is made up of three counties – Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester-thus called the tri-county area. The population of the tri-county area is approximately 665,000 and growing. Over the last three decades the population has grown steadily averaging 20% per decade. This steady growth pattern is a true indication that Charleston is a great place to live. Charleston’s pleasant climate, abundant history, focus on culture and arts, fabulous food and southern charm are just a few of the factors that bring people to the area.
